Fee covers the cost of wax and other studio consumables. It DOES NOT cover the cost of your casting in your metal choice of fine silver, sterling silver, bronze or gold karat of your choice of colour and karat. You will be able to weigh your wax to determine an estimate of your costs before I mail them to my caster. I cover the cost of shipping.

I am excited to offer this opportunity for alumni of The Hammer Jewellery Studio School and new students that are interested in beginning the metalsmithing journey!
You will learn the fundamentals of wax carving and create your own wax model in session one, have it cast in a professional casting facility, and then finish your model in session two!
I recommend that you carve a ring – for a number of reasons which will be outlined in the information you will be sent prior to the workshop. This information will also help you prepare before the workshop begins. Your carving will be sent to my professional caster and returned in time for our next workshop day. You are not required to carve a ring, you may also wish to carve a pendant, a small object, or perhaps a bangle.
The second Saturday you will learn how to finish your model and complete it by the end of the day.
Going forward, after completing this workshop, if you attend an Intermediate session, you will be able to create carvings that I will send to my caster. Your cost will be the same - the cost of the casting (metal and flask charge).
