DONNA HIEBERT INVITED INTO PRESTIGE U.S. MARKET
The Philadelphia Museum of
Art Craft Show http://www.pmacraftshow.org/index.php
is an annual fundraiser for the museum that has become one of the top retail shows
in the world for fine craft. Each year, show organizers feature one country among
the American showcase. This year they selected Canada and its best artisans who
went through an intense jury process. First, all submissions were vetted by a
Canadian jury who then forwarded their selections to the American jury for the
final decisions. Of the twenty six artisans selected, one is from Nova Scotia.
She is Donna Hiebert, an emerging Canadian jeweller and sculptor from Ferguson's
Cove. This is one more distinction to add to Hiebert's impressive portfolio. The
31st annual show will be held at the Philadelphia Convention Centre and runs November
8th through November 11th, 2007.
Donna Hiebert has been selected
as a winner in the 2006 NICHE Awards for the piece entitled "Homage to
Borobodur" in the Metal: Holloware category.
"What an honor to be
included in this elite group of fine craft artisans. This award has inspired me
even further in presenting our unique vision of refined sculptural form transformed
into wearable jewelry for the North American and European market", says Hiebert,
principle designer and president of Donna Hiebert Design.
43 artists won awards
in several categories including ceramics, wood, metal, jewelry, and glass. The
Awards are sponsored by Niche magazine, the exclusive trade publication for North
American retailers of American crafts.
The Niche Awards recognize outstanding
creative achievements of North American craft artists. Judging criteria are based
on three areas of distinction:
· technical excellence, both in surface
design and form
· market viability
· distinct quality of
unique, original and creative thought
Donna was also selected as a finalist
in the 2006 NICHE Awards for the piece entitled Dia Pendent in the Jewelry: Gold
with stones category.
Donna Hiebert Design Inc. was the winner of the Best Body of Work at the Nova Scotia Designer Crafts Council Christmas Show, held November 18 - 20, 2005 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

renowned career as a sculptor. Her work can be seen in many public and private
