In China, the lychee fruit, is considered a symbol of romance and love and translated from the Chinese means “gift for a joyful life”. Our Lychee necklace, molded from an actual lychee fruit, honors all these aspects. Carefully divided, the two halves create a delicate bell tone when they touch. Lychee Lore: Lady Yang Kuei Fei, the concubine of the last emperor of the T`ang dynasty, Hsuan Tsung (A.D. 712-756) had a passion for the lychee fruit. The emperor had them brought from Canton in Southern China to his palace in the North which was a distance of 600 miles, in order to woo her. He arranged for guards mounted on fast horses to convey the lychees to his concubine while they were still fresh.

Your selection from the Flotsam and Jetsam collection is very easy to care for - with a few exceptions.  The bronze, flame worked patinas, and oxidized sterling silver elements are quite durable.  All the bronze elements are carefully waxed using carnauba wax obtained from the leaves of a palm tree known as Copernica Cerifera, which is also referred to as the "Tree of Life".  Over time you will find that the patina will "age" and some areas will become burnished and the natural bronze coloring will be revealed - this will be evident most noticeably on the toggles and rings.  This natural process will add to the unique quality of your piece. We suggest that, in order to preserve the patina, that you avoid wearing Flotsam and Jetsam while bathing, swimming, or in a hot tub (very harsh chemicals there!). If desired, reapply wax occasionally and sparingly.
